“That ICPA Qld remains committed to advocating to the State Government for sustained funding through LAFHAS, which continues to account for CPI and also increases in line with rising fees, ensuring rural students have fair and affordable access to education.”
Explanation:
We urge the government to continue prioritising support for rural and remote Queensland families to ensure they are able to provide their children with an education. School fees have increased significantly in the last couple of years (some by as much as 8.5% per annum) and continue to grow at a rapid rate. This is a trend seemingly common across the boarding schools spectrum. Consideration of these cost increases needs to be included in the LAFHAS calculation.
